La Compostura/the healing of the earth

Seven Mirrors is excited to present La Compostura, a special short-run art exhibition and VR experience by the artist Gabriel Vallecillo Márquez.

 

“La Compostura is an immersive 360º VR artwork where ancestral wisdom and modern technology converge. Rooted in the Lenca ritual of La Compostura de la Tierra, this piece is a sacred homage to Mother Earth and the ancestral spirits that interweaves sacred knowledge with digital realities.

 

La Compostura invites us to reflect on our collective future. Beginning with the creation of life through the verses of the sacred book Popol Vuh, the experience unfolds within a symbolic circle, guiding us through cycles of life and decay, bloom and transformation.

 

Through this cosmic exploration, La Compostura urges us to consider humanity's path forward, guided by both the wisdom of the past and a vision of the future.”

La Compostura is a companion piece to Yelkaram: Weaving the Ancestral Body, a dance and video-mapping performance by Diana Lara in collaboration with Isadora Paz and Gabriel Vallecillo.

 

Yelkaram focuses on Honduran indigenous Lenca weaving traditions and nature protection rituals reinterpreted by a group of artists with Honduran heritage.
